Answers to your questions...
Thank you for visiting! I thought I could try and answer some of the most common questions we are asked...
- IS IT NECESSARY TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT? We always recommend calling ahead to schedule an appointment if you are interested in trying on bridal gowns. One of us will assist you in trying on the gowns, so calling ahead ensures one of us is available for you. You are always welcome to visit the salon without an appointment and certainly if we are available we will take walk-in appointments.
- WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO MY APPOINTMENT? We have appropriate bras available to try with the gowns, but you can of course bring your own. We do require that underpants be worn while trying on our gowns. Pictures of your favorite gowns from magazines and websites are welcome and helpful in assisting you to choose from our collection. Though we may not have specific gowns from your pictures, the photos can help us recommend gowns that are similar in style. The gowns in our salon are all available for you to view - we do not disappear into a secret room to bring you gowns we think you will like!!! You are able to choose all the gowns you would like to try on during your appointment. We schedule appointments for 1 1/2 hours, if the fitting rooms are available, we can allow you to continue trying on gowns as time allows.
- WHO SHOULD I BRING WITH ME TO MY APPOINTMENT? Your family and friends can be such an important part of the gown decision! Bring people that you want to share this wonderful experience with. (Dads even come along sometimes!!) Just one word of advice, we do find that too large of a group can have many opinions and sometimes your vision of the perfect gown may be different than even the most important people in your life. Remember that you are the most important voice in choosing your gown - this is your day - your vision of the perfect dress. I hope we can be helpful in making you feel as beautiful as you should on your wedding day!
- DO YOU HAVE EVERY GOWN FROM YOUR FEATURED DESIGNERS? No salon carries the entire collection from their designers, and we are unable to order gowns from designers we do not offer. Please visit the websites of our designers as a reference, but if you fall in love with a particular gown, please contact us and we can let you know if it is available in our salon. We can often borrow samples of gowns from our designers if we do not have your favorite on hand. There is usually a fee to borrow a sample, which will be applied to your purchase if you order the gown. If you are a fan of one of our designers and would like to see as many of their gowns as possible without incurring extra fees, watch our "News and Events" for trunk shows!
- WHAT IS A TRUNK SHOW? A crazy lot of fun!!! A trunk show is your best opportunity to see as much of your favorite designer's gowns in one place as possible! During a trunk show, the featured designer lends us the newest and most wonderful gowns they have to share. During a trunk show you can also save 10% off your gown order if you choose a gown from the collection of the featured designer. Again, watch our "News and Events" for upcoming trunk shows!
- ARE PHOTOGRAPHS ALLOWED IN THE SALON? Our designers are very protective of their designs, out of respect for their wishes, photographs will only be allowed after a gown is ordered or purchased. Once you have made your choice, you are welcome to take as many photographs as you would like!!!
- WHAT IS THE PRICE RANGE OF YOUR BRIDAL GOWNS? The gowns in our salon range between $1200 and $5000. Most of our gown are priced between $2000 and $3000. We do always offer discontinued samples for a reduced price and you can watch for our annual sample sales!
- HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO MAKE MY GOWN? All of our designer gowns are made to order, and generally take between 4-5 months to arrive in the salon after ordered. We always recommend choosing your gown a minimum of 6 months before your wedding. After your gown arrives in the salon, 6-8 weeks are usually necessary for alterations and final fittings. Some of our designers can create gowns more quickly, but keep in mind that rush deliveries will incur additional cost. As not every gown can be created on a rush delivery, you will limit your gown choices if you do not order at least 6 months before your wedding. We do always offer a selection of gowns that can be purchased "off the rack." These are gowns that are discontinued by our designers or are soon to be retired and can be purchased at a discount. These gowns are usually "sample" size which is a bridal size 10 (closer to a regular size 8) If you have not yet had a chance to visit the salon, I think you will be pleased with the condition of our samples. I know gowns in many salons can become quite "tired", we provide fresh gloves that are worn (even by us!) when handling our gowns. Even the cleanest hands have natural oils and the gloves ensure that our gowns stay as fabulous as possible.
- HOW AND WHEN DO I PAY FOR MY GOWN? If you are ordering one of our designer gowns, a 50% deposit is required to place your order. The balance is due when your gown arrives in the salon. Given that our gowns are made to order, all sales are final. If you are purchasing one of our vintage gowns or an off-the-rack sample, you may pay a 50% deposit with the balance due 30 days from your purchase date. We are sorry to say that there are no refunds, exchanges or credits available. Thank you for your understanding.
- DO YOU HAVE USED BRIDAL GOWNS? The gowns in our salon are new, designer bridal gowns, samples are tried on by brides from which gowns are ordered. We also have a unique selection of restored vintage bridal gowns. These are original antique gowns dating from the late 1800's to the 1960's. We do not offer resale bridal gowns nor do we offer rentals.
- DO YOU ALTER GOWNS PURCHASED IN OTHER SALONS? I am afraid we are not able to alter gowns purchased elsewhere, we only offer alterations on the bridal gowns purchased in our salon. However, we do offer restoration and alterations on family gowns, depending on the original purchase era of the gown. If you have a family gown that you are interested in wearing, please call for more details. We also offer the service of steaming gowns purchased elsewhere. If you are a bride traveling to Vermont for your wedding, please call for details on pricing and availability.
I hope these answers have been helpful! Please let us know if you have any other questions. I look forward to hearing from you!
All my best,
Debbie
